Essential Requirements and Assesment of Conformity

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) of electrical and electronic apparatus or fixed installations in Republic of Lithuania are regulated by Technical Regulations of Electromagnetic Compatibility (Official Gazette Valstybės Žinios, 2006, No. 138-5286). These Regulations implement Directive 2004/108/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 2004 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States, relating to electromagnetic compatibility, repealing Directive 89/336/EEC (OL 2004 L 390, p. 24) into the national law.

The equipment (apparatus or fixed installations) shall meet the essential requirements, i.e. it shall be so designed and manufactured, haveing regard to the state of the art, as to ensure that:

(a) the electromagnetic disturbance generated does not exceed the level above which radio and telecommunications equipment or other equipment cannot operate as intended;

(b) it has a level of immunity to the electromagnetic disturbance to be expected in its intended use which allows it to operate without unacceptable degradation of its intended use.
