24/05/2021, Vilnius. Today, the competition “New Enlightener 2021” starts – Lithuania’s national selection for the global digital innovation competition “World Summit Awards 2021” (WSA). Developers of digital platforms, services, apps, games and other products are invited to participate in the competition. Registration for the national competition takes place on the website www.naujasisknygnesys.lt until 11 July 2021.
“We invite everyone to participate – start-ups, companies with many years of experience, as well as various organizations and institutions that have developed or implemented interesting, meaningful digital solutions,” says Ieva Žilionienė, Lithuanian national expert and global jury member of the World Summit Awards competition. – We are looking for digital innovations created in Lithuania that would be valuable and interesting both in our country and in the global context. The success of Lithuanian nominees who have become WSA winners over the past few years – Oxipit, BitDegree, Computers for children, Interactio, Pulsetip, Vytautas the Great Museum, Kaunas University of Technology – perfectly illustrates that we know how to create such. We have amazing creators and great solutions in Lithuania, so we invite you to try your hand: register for the competition and prove it to both the Lithuanian and world community”.
What awaits the winners of the national competition:
- Representation of Lithuania in the global competition: the solutions that won the national selection – one decision in 8 competition categories – will become Lithuania’s “new enlightener” and will represent Lithuania in the global competition “WSA 2021”.
- Cash prize: one of the starters participating in the competition will receive a special prize – for the most innovative, original and socially significant decision of the start-up, who will be awarded a cash prize worth 3000 Eur.
- Valuable prizes: the winners of the national competition (8 Lithuanian nominees for the WSA 2021 competition, Starter of the Year, Decision of the Year for Lithuania, Young Innovators Team, etc.) will be awarded with prizes established by the competition friends.
– If successful, attend the WSA World Congress: WSA 2021 competition participants will compete in their categories with nominees from around the world, and their winners will be invited to attend the World Summit Awards in March 2022, in Manchester, UK, where they will present their solutions to the international business and academic community, will attend trainings and meetings with globally recognized innovators and will be awarded during a ceremony honouring the winners.- Additional attention to young innovators: teams submitting their decisions to the „New Enlightener“ competition, most of whom are under the age of 30, are also involved in the selection of the Youth Innovation for Europe initiative of the World Summit Awards. A team of young creators selected by the Lithuanian National Commission will compete for the title of the best in Europe and an invitation to the European Festival of Young Innovators in November 2021 in Grace, Austria. The „New Enlightener 2021“ competition is organized by the Information Society Development Committee (IVPK, www.ivpk.lt) and the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT, www.rrt.lt).
