Nordic-Baltic regulators shared their experience in an online meeting

September 22, 2020

On 21 September 2020, a remote meeting of the heads of Nordic-Baltic Electronic Communications Regulators Network (NB Reg Network), organized by the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT), took place.

This is already the third annual meeting held at the level of the heads of Nordic-Baltic regulatory authorities. The participants introduced key news on their electronic communications markets, discussed ongoing market analyses as well as regulatory initiatives and best practices during quarantine period. The heads also shared status quo and their experience on currently major regulatory challenges such as 700 MHz radio frequency auctions and other 5G network deployment issues, shared use of radio frequencies, and transposition and implementation of the European Electronic Communications Code.

NB Reg Network was established in 2018, upon signing Memorandum of Understanding by electronic communications regulators from eight Nordic-Baltic countries (Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden). The purpose of establishing the Network is to cooperate and exchange experience in the field of electronic communications regulation at both expert and heads level. Currently, there are three NB Reg Network working groups comprising experts from all eight Nordic-Baltic countries: Working Group on Consumer Protection, Working Group on Cost Modelling, and Working Group on Statistics which is chaired by a representative of RRT.
