RRT continues consultations over the development of 5G radio communication

October 3, 2018

03 October 2018, Vilnius. The Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT) published the public enquiry over the development of 5G radio communication in the 3400-3800 MHz frequency band and the original draft plan of the development of radio communication in the 3400-3800 MHz frequency band and invites the electronic communications market players and other persons concerned to provide their opinions.

“We are publishing this enquiry to continue the preparation, which commenced in spring, for the installation of the next generation mobile radio communication 5G technology in Lithuania. According to the results of the first enquiry, the market is interested in the use of the 3400-3800 MHz frequency band when developing the existing infrastructure and providing the users with even more advanced, innovative and higher quality services. We consult the market to harmonise the needs of both the public and private sectors and to prepare for the future frequency auction which is intended to be published in 2019,” said Director of the RRT Radiocommunication Department dr. Augutis Čėsna.

RRT invites the persons concerned to provide their opinions on the rearrangement of the 3400-3800 MHz frequency band, terms and conditions of the public auction granting the right to use radio frequencies (channels) from that band and minimum requirements for the 5G system development by 5 November 2018.
