RRT starts a Twinning project in Ukraine

September 11, 2019

On 8 September 2019, the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT) launched the European Union Twinning project in Ukraine “Strengthening the Regulatory Capacity of the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization in the Areas of Market Access and Quality of Service Monitoring System”.

„The aim of this project is to strengthen and improve the capacity of the Ukrainian National Regulator in the field of quality control of electronic communications services, access to electronic communications networks and interconnection. Another very important goal is to contribute through interinstitutional cooperation to the development of the Ukraine-EU partnership – Ukraine’s move towards the West”, says Giedrius Pūras, deputy director of RRT, Resident Twinning Adviser.

RRT will implement the project, which will last for almost two years, in cooperation with the Latvian Public Utilities Commission. The project will be carried out by around 40 Lithuanian and Latvian experts of the communication services field, who will share their expertise in the area of electronic communications with the Ukrainian colleagues. The Central Project Management Agency is responsible for the administrative and financial management of the project.

The European Commission has allocated EUR 1.3 million for the project.

RRT successfully completed a Twinning project this summer, where as a senior partner, together with German and Polish experts, provided support to the National Communications Commission of Sakartvelo.

Mr. Giedrius Pūras, Resident Twinning Adviser.
