Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, dr. Chaesub Lee visited Vilnius on 4 September 2019 during an official visit. During this very first visit to Lithuania dr. Chaesub Lee participated in the session of the Committee for International Telecommunication Union Policy (Com-ITU) of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT), had a meeting with the Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania Elijus Čivilis as well as representatives of the Lithuanian Bank, the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, the Lithuanian Standards Board. The guest also visited the institution which organised his visit, namely, the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT), where he met the heads of RRT and representatives of private companies. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange information on the relevant issues of development of information and telecommunication technologies in Lithuania, possible more in-depth involvement of Lithuanian institutions and companies into the standardisation activities within the ITU framework and wider cooperation with ITU in general.
